REFURBISHMENT OF LINKS NURSERY, SEATON INTO ABERDEEN’S FIRST BAIRNS HOOSE
In May 2025, Burns Construction completed works at Links Nursery, to transform the vacant half of the building into a multi-use facility for The Bairns Hoose scheme in Aberdeen. The Bairns Hoose is a collaboration between police, NHS and the Scottish Government designed to give support to children who have experienced or witnessed abuse or harm.
The building had been vacant for several years and required significant refurbishment. All existing wall framing, plasterboard, and panelling were stripped from the walls and ceilings, and the floor tiling was removed—each fully replaced with new materials. The gravel area at the front of the building was excavated and resurfaced with tarmac to improve access and appearance.
The link corridor, previously a dark and uninviting space, was fully transformed into a bright and welcoming passageway. Throughout the building, new wall finishes were installed and decorated, a section received a new flat roof, and updated ceiling finishes were added. High-performance Velfac windows were also installed, enhancing both natural light and energy efficiency.
